The how does Thermography work?
Thermal Imaging is a superficial imaging procedure, monitoring the skin’s temperature. When looking at breast health we like to see symmetry within the breasts. This means warmer and cooler patterns in the same areas of both breasts, almost like holding a mirror up between the breasts so that they mirror each other. When the temperature of blood vessels (veins) are the same on both sides this is a healthy sign. When however one breasts blood vessels begin to increase in temperature, or a new vascular pattern emerges, then there is an increased risk for potential breast disease.
Thermal Imaging has high sensitivity. A 90 per cent sensitivity when monitoring blood vessels and tissues. Because of this there may be more false positives – finding too many issues. These include things like blocked and congested lymphatic vessels and channels, hormonal inflammation and so forth. This is an opportune moment then to take action early to clean out the breast tissue and lessen or prevent future disease.
When is Thermal Imaging recommended?
The younger the better to establish a baseline, think 20’s. Then returning if an issue arises or every 5-10 years. Then from the age of 40 onwards, annually is best.
